# What is SteonMod?

SteonMod lets you **fuse the games you own**: play Minecraft's character in another game's world,
drop one game's creatures into a playground, or build a whole new game out of pieces of several.
It's like Garry's Mod, but the pieces come from your real games, running on your PC.

The program you run is called **Fusion**. SteonMod is the whole project: Fusion, the routers, the
docs and this website.

## How it works, in one picture

Fusion starts your games itself, hidden in the background, and asks each one for a piece: the
world it draws, a character, its creatures. Then it puts the pieces together on one screen. Each
game still runs its own world, physics and animations; Fusion only connects them. Nothing is
copied out of your games, and nothing of theirs is rebuilt.

> [!NOTE]
> You need to own every game a fusion uses. Fusion checks before you press Play and says what's
> missing ("You own 1 of the 2 games this needs").

## The words you'll see

| Word | What it means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| **Router** | A small free add-on that teaches Fusion one game: how to start it, where its player is, what its creatures are. One per game. | VEIN's router |
| **Block** | One piece a router offers. | VEIN's **World**, Minecraft's **Player**, The Long Dark's **Wolves** |
| **Scenario** | A list of blocks played together, made with cards. | "Minecraft's player in VEIN's world" |
| **Experience** | A finished scenario with a title screen, goals and an ending: a small game. | "Beacon Run" |
| **Device** | A no-code gadget you place in the world: a timer, a score counter, a trigger zone. | A countdown that ends the round |
| **Stack** | Several Experiences and addons played together, top one first. | An Experience plus a "low gravity" addon |
| **Package** | One `.fusion` file holding routers, scenarios, addons or Devices, to share. | `zombie-arena.fusion` |

## What you can do

- **Play** scenarios and Experiences others made: [Your first fusion](https://steonmod.com/docs/first-fusion).
- **Build** your own with cards, no coding: [Building with cards](https://steonmod.com/docs/building-with-cards).
- **Mess around** in any plain scenario with the spawn menu and tools: [The sandbox](https://steonmod.com/docs/sandbox).
- **Share** what you made as one file, or get things others made: [Getting content](https://steonmod.com/docs/content).
- **Make a router** for a game you love (it's mostly data, and your AI agent can help):
  [Making routers](https://steonmod.com/docs/making-routers).

## What it isn't

- Not a cheat tool. Fusion refuses to attach to a game whose anti-cheat is running, and games with
online anti-cheat only work through their own official offline mode.
- Not a way to get games. Fusion only uses games installed on your PC, and never shares their files.
- Not finished. SteonMod is in its first test; expect rough edges, and tell us what broke.
